Mend & Maintain MyotherapyMEND, MOVE, MAINTAIN
Myotherapy (also known as muscular therapy) is a form of Western medicine, which combines physiology, anatomy and biomechanics into one form of treatment.
Essentially, it works to treat soft tissue dysfunction and pain across the board. Myofascia is the name for the tissue around and between your muscles, and when conjoined, makes up your ligaments and tendons.
Over time, myofascial areas of your body can become damaged due to:
- Sprains
- Musculoskeletal disease
- Neuromuscular illness
- Stress from your occupation
- Incorrect posture
- Muscular imbalances
- Strains, and more.
This therapy, when applied correctly, can help rehabilitate your soft tissue, and improve any pain you may be feeling. It can increase your flexibility and allow your body to regain a sense of strength, as well, letting you get back to doing what you love.
This form of treatment also uses a range of tools and assessments to diagnose any discomfort or pain you may be experiencing. Typically, these conditions affect your quality of life, and can hinder your ability to move freely. When a holistic approach is taken towards healing, you’re giving your whole body the best chance of recovery.
What You Can Expect From a Session With Our Myotherapist

At your first consultation, your dedicated professional will conduct a thorough assessment of not only your areas of concern but your whole body as well.
You’ll be asked about your medical history, and to talk about how you received any injuries (if you know what caused it). We’ll also ask how you have been caring for it so far.
We’ll also assess your posture, skeletal structure, the mobility of your joints, your range of movement, and other neurological, palpatory and orthopaedic testing. This gives your therapist a clear picture of how to best approach treating your injury.
During your sessions, we may use any of the following techniques:
- Deep tissue massage
- Trigger point therapy
- Passive and active assisted stretching
- Joint mobilisation
- Dry needling
- Cupping
- Release
- Functional fascial taping
The decision on which skills to use will be made after your comprehensive assessment with our myotherapy therapists and will be regularly reassessed to ensure they are still effective in the long-run.
